OJ Washington

I grew up all over the world as an Army brat. Born in Bavaria, Germany I lived overseas for five years, and then moved to Kentucky, Louisiana, California, New Mexico, Kansas, and Washington state. My father did 23 years as an enlisted solider in the U.S. Army and finally retired after his last duty station in Ft. Lewis, WA. My immediate family still resides there(Tacoma, WA) and this is the place I call home. Moving around my entire childhood taught me quickly that I needed to adapt to my surroundings and to be social. Sports played a huge part of my life growing up always participating in football, basketball, and track & field. I attended the U.S. Naval Academy to become a Naval officer and play football.

After football and college ended I was stationed in Norfolk, VA for four years on two guided missile ships. I served as an Air Defense officer in charge of anti-aircraft and missile defense of both ships. I currently serve aboard the USS THEODORE ROOSEVELT (CVN 71) as a Tactical Action Officer responsible for airspace management with tactical employment of all air defense assets and missile defense systems.

I’m currently pursuing a Master’s in Business Administration and hope to one day compete at the Crossfit Games! I believe wholeheartedly in Crossfit’s theory and belief in fitness with its’ evidenced based fitness program. Even though Crossfit is a fitness regimen, the communal aspect is my favorite part about it all. I’m extremely eager and proud to be an owner at Bear Republic. My hobbies include football, weightlifting, swimming, and competing in Crossfit, duh.
